We can now report that after sustained approaches to Council culminating in a formal presentation to the Long Term Planning meeting, this project is nearing completion. The demarcation barriers and the bridge clip-ons have now been approved for completion in the 2006/2007 budget to the sum of $150,000. We hope, and your Committee is pressing Council, to see this work completed prior to Christmas and therefore be in place for summer 2006/7. This improvement has been part of the residents' programme for some years and, on completion, will conclude the causeway walkway project - a major Omaha Beach Community initiative based on "Promoting a Safer Omaha". Causeway Walkway/Cycleway Completion Date: April 2007 With the addition of the demarcation markers and ripple strip, and
a re-seal of the red roading chip, the road portion of the causeway walkway/cycleway
project is now completed.
