In July 2005 Rodney District Council adopted the Tonkin & Taylor Report which required information be placed on Land Information Memorandum (LIM) reports of many Omaha properties highlighting possible flood risk. OBC and a number of residents were of the opinion that RDC had misinterpreted the content of the report and how it had been implemented particularly with the application of inaccurate Topographical Survey Data which had impacted a greater number of LIM reports than would have been the case if accurate data had been applied. It is important to OBC that the LIM warnings accurately portray the Tonkin & Taylor advice. OBC engaged Hesketh Henry as their legal representatives to address the above issues with RDC. A meeting was held at the Omaha Community Centre on 15th August with the Mayor John Law, CEO Vijaya Vaidyanath and other senior council officers in attendance with RDC admitting that information put on some Omaha LIM reports was inaccurate and it will move urgently to redress the situation. The following resolution was unanimously passed at the meeting:
OBC is satisfied with the outcome of this meeting and with the positive attitude of the Mayor and RDC Chief Executive to address this issue. We acknowledge the contribution made by Consulting Engineer Ian Hutchinson and Omaha Real Estate Agent Michael Dow in achieving this outcome. Greg Stenbeck
